Innovative Conveyor Belt Monitoring via Current Signals

This paper proposes, investigates, and validates, by comprehensive experiments, new online automatic diagnostic technology for belt conveyor systems based on motor current signature analysis (MCSA). Motor (MCSA) is a method employed detecting faults in electric motors analyzing the waveforms generated during operation. The capitalizes fact that defects, such as mechanical misalignment, bearing damage, rotor bar cause variations motor’s waveforms, which can be discerned analyzed using advanced signal processing techniques. MCSA non-invasive cost-effective technique detect real-time without requiring expensive equipment or disassembly of motor. In this study, researchers tested proposed technology, relies power feature. feature calculated integrated within specific frequency range, centered around fundamental harmonic supply frequency. purpose study to evaluate first time effectiveness diagnosis tracking conveyor. technology’s assessed signals are obtained two different scenarios: normal tracking, mis-tracking under loads system. study’s findings indicate has high level when used mis-tracking. Therefore, it feasible recommend diagnosing issues conveyors.
